Habanero Fall Crisp

Earthquake has put a spin on a Fall favorite, Apple Crisp! This Habanero Fall Crisp combines the tropical heat of the habanero pepper with the sweetness of warm apple crisp, we topped it all off with ice cold vanilla ice cream and our brown sugar/cinnamon hot sauce, Space Dust.

We used an 8x8 baking Pan, feel free to adjust pan size and recipe according to your needs and family size.
Filling:
- 4 large apples, peeled and sliced (We used a mix of honeycrisp, granny smith, and empire)
- Zest from 1 lemon
- Juice from 1 lemon
- 1 habanero, seeded and sliced (slice with caution, gloved hand recommended. Capsaicin will seep into pores)
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- pinch of salt
Crumb Topping:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 1/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- pinch of salt
Additional Ingredients:
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Earthquake Spices Space Dust Hot Sauce
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Combine prepared filling ingredients (as directed above) and thoroughly incorporate.
- Combine crumb topping ingredients in a separate bowl.
- Mix crumb topping thoroughly until a crumbly texture is achieved.
- Crumble topping in large chunks over filling to cover the top of the filling.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is lightly browned and the filling is bubbly.
- Serve warm, then top with vanilla ice cream and Space Dust Hot Sauce.
